Mr Adz

Adam McGowran, better known as MR ADZ, is a DJ with over 25 years behind the decks and a deep-rooted passion for soulful music in all its forms. His journey began in the late 90s after raving up and down the country, with his first club experience at the legendary Slammin’ Vinyl at Bagley’s, Kings Cross in December 1998. By 2000, Adam was fully immersed in DJing, driven by a love for music that moves both the heart and the dancefloor.

Adam’s early career took him to Spain, where he played local gigs across the Costa Blanca before becoming part of the first English radio station on the coast, TKO FM. It was here that he met Andy Ward and Paul Groove, forming lifelong friendships and truly discovering house music. Alongside radio, Adam built a strong local reputation with residencies at The Temple Bar (Playa Flamenca) and the roof terrace at Pacha Torrevieja, as well as numerous bar gigs across the region.
In 2009, Andy Ward invited Adam to play at the first-ever Vocal Booth Weekender, marking a major milestone in his career. After returning to the UK, Adam joined Confetti Digital Radio, which led to appearances at iconic venues including Ministry of Sound, EGG, and various Thames boat parties.

He later became a resident DJ for House Meets Soul, playing regularly at Vibe Bar and other Shoreditch venues. During this period, Adam also played at Aquarium on multiple occasions under the House Meets Soul banner, and went on to host his own event, “Key to the House,” at Aquarium, further cementing his reputation on the London house circuit.
Adam continued to play at most Vocal Booth Weekenders right through to the final event in 2025 and played for The Only Way Is Garage in Birmingham, following on from his Vocal Booth appearances.

Alongside his long-standing partnership with Paul Groove, Adam co-founded Sound Management, a DJ and production duo with over 10 years of collaboration. Together, Adam and Paul also began promoting their own events at The Rhythm Factory, where they launched “The Pulse”, creating a respected platform for forward-thinking and soulful house music in East London.
After relocating from London to Essex, Adam now plays regular local gigs around Braintree, while continuing to broadcast nationally and internationally.

Production-wise, Adam released his first record in 2016, “Turn It Up” alongside Timmy Vegas on Good for You Records. Together with Paul Groove, he also runs Ridin’ Lo Records, a label with over 40 releases to date. His next release, “Floating”, is set for release on Garage Paradise in early 2026.
Musically, MR ADZ draws inspiration from Funk, Soul, Rare Groove, Jazz, Reggae, House, Garage, R&B and Hip Hop, influenced by artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Grant Nelson, and guided from an early age by his father — a true Soul Brother.

Now broadcasting on Slim Radio every Friday 20:00–22:00 GMT, MR ADZ delivers a soulful, authentic, and upfront sound, rooted in experience, passion, and a genuine love for the music.
